MAROS, UJUNGJARI.COM — Sekolah Putri Darul Istiqamah (SPDI) Maros welcomed a visit from Mazhar Durrani, the CEO of Parallaxnet America. His visit was in connection with his role as a speaker at the International Symposium organized by SPDI Maros on Monday, June 3.
The international symposium, titled “How to Build an Islamic Start-Up Business,” was aimed at providing SPDI students with the knowledge and insight to excel in Islamic business ventures.
Mazhar Durrani’s presence was highly inspiring for the students, especially as he candidly admitted that it was his first time feeling nervous speaking in front of an audience predominantly composed of female students. Nonetheless, he expressed his happiness and honor to share his knowledge at the all-girls school.
Durrani emphasized the importance of technology in modern life and business, noting that technology is now an integral part of all aspects of life, from medicine to mechanical engineering. He also explained how rapidly technology is evolving and how challenging this can be for those working in the field.

He encouraged the students to draw inspiration from Prophet Muhammad (SAW), who worked for his wife Khadijah, a successful businesswoman. Durrani urged the students to become strong leaders and not simply follow the crowd.
According to Durrani, being a good Muslim woman and adhering to Islamic values is the key to success in building a business.
He also introduced his daughter, Tania Fatima Mazhar Durrani, who currently leads a major company in Los Angeles. During the symposium, Durrani connected with Tania via video call and introduced her to the students.
Through Durrani’s Android device, Tania shared her experiences of working in a male-dominated tech industry. She encouraged SPDI students to continue learning and to seize every opportunity for growth.
“Continue, never give up, you guys are going to be successful. I want you to move forward in the second, third, and technology sectors,” Tania said.
The symposium was interactive, with many questions from the students.
During the event, Durrani motivated the students to always be disciplined, work hard, and trust in Allah. He assured them that with effort and prayer, they could achieve great success.
“Allah loves people who work hard and struggle. You have to change the world, you have to adopt a new culture. That’s pretty much it from my side,” Durrani said, encouraging the students to continuously seek knowledge and improve their skills.
Durrani emphasized that the world is changing rapidly, and only those who keep learning and adapting will succeed. He also reminded the students of the importance of building networks and collaborating, as success often comes from working together.
Riza Sativani Hayati, Director of Education at SPDI Maros, stated that the event was expected to inspire and provide new insights for SPDI students in building a bright future aligned with Islamic values.
At the event, Durrani and Riza signed an MoU for collaboration on the development of education and skills for students, particularly in Islamic Start-Up strategies between the two parties.
